iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus updated with user-requested features

San Francisco - Apple addressed many of the perceived deficiencies of the iPhone 6 line with their updated iPhone 6s models revealed today.

They've made the thin and light iPhone stronger, with a 7000 series Alumium as well as reinforced glass. The camera has been bumped up to 12-megapixels (from the long-standing 8 megapixel sensor). iPhone 6s can shoot 4K video, a feature that other smartphones have had for years but which Apple took its time to develop properly. It can shoot highly-detailed and color-accurate photographs.

The new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus also feature 3D Touch, a neat user interface trick that uses a finger's pressure to allow something like a digital right-click functionality which can help access app features without opening the app or leaving the current display. Its another ingenious Apple innovation to help deal with the limitations of small screens.

This is potentially huge. As a feature, it could redefine the way we use our iPhones as well as how new apps are written moving forward. More importantly, it is an innovation that is distinctly Apple's, which makes it a feature you can't expect to see from competing smartphone makers (unless, of course, they go ahead and steal it).

Powered by Apple’s third-generation 64-bit chip powers is said to offer 70 percent faster CPU and 90 percent faster GPU performance than the A8, all with gains in energy efficiency for great battery life. High-speed charging, a popular feature available in competing flagship smartphones, doesn't seem to be included in the iPhone 6s.

Pricing starts at $899 (CAD) for the 16GB model, $1,029 (CAD) for the 64GB model and $1,159 (CAD) for the 128GB model. iPhone 6s Plus will be available in gold, silver, space grey and the new rose gold metallic finishes for a suggested retail price of $1,029 (CAD) for the 16GB model, $1,159 (CAD) for the 64GB model and $1,289 (CAD) for the 128GB model. The iPhone 6s models will be available for preorder on September 12 and will be shipping and in stores on September 25.
