IBM announces breakthrough in hybrid cloud storage

IBM today announced a breakthrough in cloud storage – the new family of IBM Cloud Object Storage services for hybrid clouds.

Building on intensive R&D and strategic acquisitions over the last several years, the new IBM Cloud Object Storage services redefine how enterprises can securely provision, store and manage their mounting volumes of digital information.

While enterprises flock to hybrid clouds as a foundational step in the digital transformation, to date, a relative equivalent for cloud storage has not existed. No other cloud service supports data stored in on-premises and public cloud data centers. As data volumes explode, this gap has hindered flexibility, limited security and raised infrastructure costs. That all changes today with the launch of IBM Cloud Object Storage.

In addition the new services, IBM announced that leading link management company, Bit.ly, has signed on as one of the solution’s first clients and will manage up to 500TB of critical workloads on the service.
