Torrentz.eu shuts down torrent search engine

With the crackdown on torrent sites, we’re not surprised were losing a major portal for them. Poland-based torrent meta-search site Torrentz.eu has closed its doors. If you try to access the site you’ll see text on it in the past tense: "Torrentz was a free, fast and powerful meta-search engine combining results from dozens of search engines.” Try to put a search in the search bar and these words appear: “Torrentz will always love you. Farewell."

Recently KickAssTorrents was shut down by the authorities with its proprietor 30-year-old Ukrainian Artem Vaulin arrested in Poland and charged with criminal copyright infringement and money laundering. He’s been accused of illegally reproducing and distributing over $1 billion worth of pirated media. Torrentz.eu was able to last longer because it didn’t host the torrent links but directed them to places where you can find them. But now that’s gone as well and it’s starting to look like the glory days of torrenting just might be coming to a close.
