James Mangold addresses rumoured Boba Fett spin-off movie

Before the release of Solo: A Star Wars Story rumours have been going around that Logan writer/director James Mangold was going to direct a spin-off film based on bounty hunter Boba Fett. And when a Twitter user sent Mangold a tweet saying “Boba Fett movie = Worst idea ever,” the writer/director took to his Twitter to talk about what he is working on. He tweets, “Look what I got from a self-proclaimed ‘lover of life’! Seriously Blackbird, chill. I’m making a period car racing movie w/ Christian Bale & Matt Damon. No Mandalorians involved. Stop reading so much gossip.”

Lucasfilm hasn’t confirmed any of its upcoming plans beyond Episode IX, Rian Johnson’s trilogy of films, and Game of Thrones co-creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss’ series of films. Rumour has it spinoff films have been put on-hold due to the negative reception to Solo. Now, whether Mangold was involved in one of them, we can’t say right now. For now, the upcoming Star Wars film fans can look forward to is Episode IX, which hits theatres in December 2019.
