Google Maps wants to make it safer to walk the streets at night

Lines of code found within Google Maps suggest that the app might get a new feature that will show well-lit streets at night. XDA Developers found the code within the Android version of Maps. Some lines mention: 'LAYER_SAFETY">Lighting' as well as "Yellow lines show streets with good lighting." A few of the other lines of code mention how streets with no lighting or poor lighting will be coloured, too. There are mentions that this feature won't be available in all regions and for all zoom levels within the app. But it's a useful one; we hope Google rolls out soon.
