Google Maps goes multimodal, lets you combine transit directions with ride-sharing and biking

Google Maps wants to make its app more useful for commuters and transit riders with this new update. It'll combine transit directions with biking and ride-sharing options, letting you get from point A to B using different modes of transportation. When you input your destination in the app, you need to select the Transit tab to see these options.

If you're interested in using a ride-sharing app, you'll get information about each leg of the trip. It'll show things like how much it'll cost, how long you will have to wait, and if there's traffic on your ride. It'll also show when your bus or train departs.

If you want to bike, you'll see routes tailored for cyclists. It'll also show the information you need to know about the transit portion of your journey.

For iOS users, you get the transit directions with ride-sharing and biking options starting today. Meanwhile, Android users will get transit plus ride-sharing feature starting today, but you will have to wait for the biking option to show up. According to Google, this feature will be coming to 30 countries across the globe first, with more coming soon.
