Samsung's HDR 10+ Adaptive tech optimizes lighting based on your room

While Samsung and Dolby aren't working together to bring Dolby Vision HDR to Samsung televisions, the company has something similar to it. Its HDR10+ technology will support HDR10+Adaptive, which has a Filmmaker Mode that uses the TV's light sensor to adjust lighting based on the room's conditions. HDR10+ expands on basic HDR 10 by encoding information on a per-scene basis. 

This tech works on supported content and services. Amazon Prime Video supports HDR10+, and according to a statement from executive BA Winston, "With HDR10+ and Filmmaker mode, Prime Video content is optimized regardless of the viewing environment and customers can enjoy movies and TV shows the way the filmmakers intended."

Samsung's "upcoming QLED" models will support the tech, which we presume will include its 2021 4K TV lineup. But it isn't known if older QLEDs will get the feature eventually. More information should come out next month as we expect Samsung to talk about this further at CES 2021.
