Facebook on Android preps dark mode, coronavirus tracker

Facebook has been slowly adding a dark mode to its different apps. Its main app on mobile hasn't gotten the feature yet—until these new screenshots show the feature arriving in its Android app, that is.

9to5Google shows screenshots of the yet-to-be-released dark mode on Facebook mobile. You can opt to enable it within the app or adopt your phone's universal dark mode settings. Dark mode on Facebook is a lot greyer than black, but that's still enough to help with lessening its strain on your battery or your eyes when you use it in low-lit areas.

The company also looks like it'll introduce a coronavirus tracker. The screenshot shows mock data from Seattle. It displays COVID-19 cases over three weeks as well as country-wide cases over seven days.

Facebook is revamping its "Time on Facebook," too. It's a digital well-being feature that keeps track of how much time you actively use it. There's a new grid-based user interface that separates the different sections. Facebook didn't seem to add any new features here. Instead, the company gave it a fresh coat of paint. The Quiet mode might seem new to some, but the function beneath it already exists within the app.

It isn't clear though when Facebook plans to release these new features.
