LG Velvet 5G is coming to Canada on Aug. 7

LG Canada just announced it'll be bringing the LG Velvet 5G to the country on August 7. It's now available for pre-order until August 6 through LG.ca and participating carriers.

The handset will be available through the following Canadian retail partners: Bell, Eastlink, Fido, Freedom Mobile, Koodo, Rogers, SaskTel, Telus, Videotron, Virgin, Best Buy, TBooth, Wireless Etc. (Costco), The Mobile Shop, The Source, Visions, Wal-Mart, Wireless Wave, WOW Mobile, and Xplore Mobile.

Those who pre-order get a $200 Visa gift card and a pair of LG Tone Free (FN6) wireless earbuds (available while supplies last). LG hasn't revealed the official price of the Velvet 5G yet, but it's listed on Bell's site at $750.

The LG Velvet 5G comes with a 6.8-inch P-OLED panel with a 20.5:9 aspect ratio, HDR10 support and 2,460 x 1,080 resolution. The screen curves a bit to the side, and it's interrupted by a waterdrop notch housing the 16-megapixel front-facing camera. At the back, there's a triple camera setup, including a 48-megapixel primary sensor, an 8-megapixel wide-angle camera, and a 5-megapixel depth sensor.

This smartphone runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor, Android 10, 6GB of RAM, and 128GB of expandable storage. Its 4,300mAh battery promises nine hours of "continual multimedia use" and quick-charge support that gets you from zero to 50 percent in around 40 minutes.

The LG Velvet 5G is MIL-STD 810G compliant and comes with IP68 water- and dust-resistance to offer a bit more protection. This handset comes in Aurora Gray and Illusion Sunset. The official launch is happening this month, so we should soon hear more details about its local release.
