It’s been a challenging year (plus) for all of us and celebrations big or small are even more appreciated. Birthdays, graduations, heck even getting your first covid vaccine is a reason to share a little joy. Mother’s Day is coming up so here are a few ideas from this tech lovin’ momma that may come in handy for the mom in your life!

If someone asked me about getting a vacuum cleaner as a Mother’s Day (or birthday gift) I honestly would say “only if it does the work for me” then it’s a worthy gift. When I tested out the iRobot Roomba i3+ recently it fit the bill. The mid-range vacuum takes care of cleaning through the touch of the app and does a thorough job over hardwood, tiles and low pile carpets. In turn, that frees up time for me to do other things. What’s great about this unit is the dirt and debris collected within the vacuum itself is then self-cleaning. Home base is where the i3+ empties itself and recharges. Good for up to 60 cleans — okay, and then I can get the kids can empty the compartment.

Misplacing keys is common for many of us (not just moms, thank you very much) so when Apple recently announced the new AirTag it was exciting news! Just think about how handy this little tracking device will be - inside workbags, handbags, passport wallet (when we travel again), and more. Using the Find My technology, the AirTag will offer precision finding that will even be helpful in dark light. AirTags can also be personalized with initials or her favourite emoji. Add on a tag holder (hello Hermes!) to complete the look!

For the creative mom, this pandemic has given us time to discover and rediscover our inner crafty talents. The Cricut machine has gained much popularity recently. Not only can mom create cool labels for everything in the pantry but with the Cricut’s precision cuts lots of materials - everything from vinyl and iron-on, yardstick, peel and sticks, and more. Mom can create her own cards and customize whatever her heart’s desire even design her own hoodie graphics. Designs and fonts are found on the accompanying app or she can upload her own designs. With the slow-down movement welcomed back to our lives these days, I’ve been very attracted to the FUJIFILM Instax Mini 40. It’s a modern twist that gives a nod to old-school instant photo taking. The camera design feels so retro cool that it works well on our fireplace mantel ready to point and shoot at any given moment. Fun for that whole “back in my day” or grandma’s day to show the kids how you had one shot to get it right — unlike today where we can take ooodles of pics and then decide which ones to keep. It’s a way to truly stop and think before hitting button. Great for capturing all these pandemic moments together that will work it’s way into a keepsake. 

You've heard mom say "ugh, I need a massage!" or she's always hunched over the computer more than she should then gift her this incredible therapeutic massage tool. I'm a fan of the Therabody's Theragun Percussive Therapy tool that helps offer quick and safe pain relief on tight muscles or sore spots. They are amazing for my lower back pain and tight shoulders!
