OnePlus's new Nord phone promises 'core experience'

But we have to let you know immediately that it doesn't look like we're getting the phone here in Canada. The new OnePlus Nord CE 5G promises to represent the Nord brand, with the CE standing for Core Edition. It showcases the essentials of what OnePlus thinks its users need.

The new device runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G chipset with Adreno 619 GPU, 6/8/12GB of LPDDR4X RAM, and 128/256GB of UFS 2.1 storage.

According to OnePlus, the Nord CE is its slimmest device since the OnePlus 6T at just 7.9mm thick. Both rear and sides are made with composite plastic. As a more budget-friendly option, there's no Gorilla Glass front, official water resistance, and wireless charging for the 4,500mAh battery. But you can top up that battery from zero to 70% in just 30 minutes with Warp Charge 30T Plus.

The OnePlus Nord CE 5G comes in Blue Void, Charcoal Ink, and Silver Ray. It has a triple camera array at the back and a single selfie shooter. The three cameras include a 64-megapixel primary lens, an 8-megapixel ultrawide, and a monochrome lens. In front and placed in a punch-hole, there's a 16-megapixel selfie camera. It stays relatively out of the way of the 6.43-inch AMOLED screen with a 90Hz refresh rate and 2,400 x 1,800 resolution.

Pricing for the OnePlus Nord CE 5G starts at INR 22,999 for the 6GB (around CAD 381).
