Google Pixel Foldable might be delayed to 2023

We heard a lot about different hardware during Google's recent I/O conference. But one gadget the company didn't bring up is its rumoured foldable. Reports claim that the device is still in the works. Ars Technica pointed out the "isPixel2022Fodable detection flag was spotted in the Google Camera app alongside flags for other Pixel devices.

New reports are claiming the foldable is delayed for another year. This new 2023 target schedule marks the second time the rumoured foldable has been postponed. It was initially supposed to come out last year with a release alongside Android 12L or 12.1, a tablet and foldables-focused version of Android. But it looks like the company ran into trouble making the hardware.

Google is believed to work with Samsung once again to develop this device. We might see a Samsung Display-made flexible OLED screen on the inside, flexible "ultra-thin glass" for better rigidity, and the same hinge from Samsung's hinge supplier. Its display sizes are rumoured to be 7.57 inches inside and 5.78 inches outside. And we might expect to see a wider aspect ratio than Samsung's.

It's not surprising that Google is taking its time to develop a foldable. That segment is still in its infancy, with problems that still need to be resolved. So, for now, we're just going to have to wait for the device to be ready for primetime.
