Instagram makes its Reels editor easier to use

Image: Meta

Instagram Reels isn't known for having an easy-to-use editing tool. So, the latest update from the Meta-owned company is welcome. The Reels feature gets a new editor available worldwide on iOS and Android. You can pull together video clips, audio, stickers, and text into a more streamlined interface. There are also more editing tools coming with the hope of chipping away at TikTok's dominance.

There's a new "trends destination" on the dashboard that lets you check out the trending audio and hashtags, similar to what you find on TikTok. You'll see how many times others have used a song, and you can add the audio to your Reel or save it for later.

The Reels insights page is getting an update, too. You can view total watch time, average watch time, and when viewers drop off in a video. These changes will give you a better look at what resonates with the viewers. It'll also send you notifications when people start following you from a specific reel.
