Motorola’s new Razr+ is a foldable phone with a huge cover screen

Motorola has just announced its latest foldable phone, the Razr+ (or Razr 40 Ultra in other markets), which features a massive 3.6-inch OLED cover screen that lets you do almost anything without opening the phone. The Razr+ also has a 6.9-inch inner OLED screen with a 165Hz refresh rate, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset, and a 12-megapixel main camera paired with a 13-megapixel ultrawide with a 108-degree field of view and a 32-megapixel quad-pixel selfie camera. It will be available on June 16 online and on June 23 at carriers at CAD 1,299 in three colours: Infinite Black, Glacier Blue, and Viva Magenta.

The Razr+ is Motorola's latest effort to revive the iconic flip phone design of the original Razr. The company has made significant changes to the new model, such as ditching the large chin at the bottom and adding a protective layer to the inner screen. The Razr+ also supports 5W wireless charging and has an IP52 rating for dust and water resistance.

The most striking feature of the Razr+ is its cover screen, which is much larger than the one on the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4, its main competitor in the foldable market. The cover screen allows you to run almost any app you want, such as Chrome, Gmail, Instagram, and YouTube, with a full on-screen keyboard. You can also switch apps between the cover screen and main screen with a simple tap.

The phone has a sturdy aluminum frame and a hinge that can hold the screen at different angles, although it is not very rigid when fully open, which is a downside compared to how the Flip4 holds itself up. But if that large cover screen is a big draw and you aren't too worried about the lower IP rating, it might be worth checking out.
