The Samsung Galaxy A series might not be as flashy as its S and Z series devices. But they are the brand's best-selling phones. And it's looking to redefine the midrange segment again with the launch of the Galaxy A55 5G and Galaxy A35 5G. We are going to focus on the former here though.

This phone boasts a premium look and feel, thanks to its metal frame and glass front and rear. And like its predecessor, it inherits the design of the Galaxy S series. It's also the first Galaxy A series phone to sport a metal frame, making it stand out from its predecessors.

The Galaxy A55 5G promises a stunning visual experience with its large 6.6-inch Super AMOLED display featuring a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. The display gets even brighter with Vision Booster technology, reaching up to 1,000 nits for clear visuals outdoors.

At the heart of the A55 5G lies the Exynos 1480 processor. This processor delivers a significant performance boost, with a 15% faster CPU and a 32% faster GPU compared to previous models. With 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage, the phone can handle demanding tasks and multitasking with ease. The option for expandable storage via a microSD card adds further flexibility.

The triple rear camera system on the Galaxy A55 5G boasts a high-resolution 50-megapixel main sensor with optical image stabilization for sharper photos and videos, a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera to capture expansive scenes, and a 5-megapixel macro camera allows for detailed close-up shots. The 32-megapixel front camera is perfect for capturing selfies and clear video calls.

For the first time in a Galaxy A series phone, the A55 5G boasts improved low-light photography thanks to the advanced AI ISP within the Exynos 1480 processor. Night mode and Super HDR video recording with a wider dynamic range further enhance image quality.

The A55 5G is equipped with a dependable 5,000mAh battery that supports 25W fast charging, keeping you connected throughout the day. Connectivity options include 5G support, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, and a USB Type-C port for fast data transfer and charging. The phone also features GPS for navigation and a dual-SIM card slot with eSIM functionality.

The A55 5G comes pre-installed with the latest Android 14 with Samsung's One UI 6.1 on top. Samsung's commitment to long-term software updates ensures you'll receive four major Android OS updates and security patches for five years, keeping your phone protected and up-to-date. Built-in security features like Auto Blocker, Knox Security Platform, and Knox Vault safeguard your data.

The Samsung Galaxy A55 5G comes in four stylish colours: Ice Blue, Green, Lilac, and Navy. Availability is dependent on the region. Prices start at €479 (around CA$707) for the 8GB/128GB base variant.
