OnePlus 6 gets officially launched

Seemingly on schedule, or slightly earlier than its June refresh window, OnePlus just announced the new OnePlus 6, the company’s first 6.3-inch 19:9 OLED display with the controversial notch. As we’ve come to expect from the company, they pair this with a Snapdragon 845 processor, Adreno 630 graphics, up to 8GB of RAM, and maximum 256GB UFS 2.1 storage. Its display has a 2,280 x 1,080 resolution protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. OnePlus doesn’t just redesign the phone but also now replaced the unibody aluminum case with a glass back. It’s one of the first phones to support Android P beta. On the camera front, we get a dual 16-megapixel/20-megapixel rear shooters, with the main 16-megapixel sensor being bigger by 19 percent (putting the pixel size at 1.22um). You get a 16-megapixel front camera as well.

There are three colors that it comes in: mirror black, silk white, and midnight black. The mirror black retails for US$529 for the 6GB/64GB model and US$579 for the 8GB/128GB model, meanwhile the silk white and midnight black come in at the US$579 price point and a special US$629 price for the midnight black with 8GB/256GB configuration. All these variants are going on sale starting May 22 from OnePlus’ online store in North America, India, and across Europe.

Huawei’s Honor sub-brand outs what looks like a cheaper Huawei P20

It might seem like Huawei is cannibalizing itself through its sub-brand Honor. But if the prices of the new Huawei P20 are a bit too steep for you, Honor is an option you might want to check out. The Honor 10 brings a lot of the features of the P20 to the more budget-conscious user. It sports the same Kirin 970 octa-core processor, up to 6GB of RAM (the P20 only has 4GB of RAM), 128GB internal storage, and fast-charging 3,400mAh battery. It gets a 24-megapixel selfie camera, too. Where it differs with the P20 is in the dual rear camera setup. This features a 16-megapixel sensor paired with a 24-megapixel monochrome sensor. The P20 comes with the Leica-engineered 12-megapixel/20-megapixel combo.

It even has this shifting colored rear panel similar to the P20 Pro but Honor calls its version Phantom Blue. You get a notched LCD display on the Honor 10 as well and it’s a bit larger than the P20’s at 5.84 inches. You also get a fingerprint sensor on the chin of the phone. Pricing is the biggest differentiator here. The prices of the Honor 10 is €399 (approx. CA$600) for the 64GB version, €449 (approx. CA$670) for the 128GB version, and Rs. 33,000 for the 6GB/128GB version. No word on whether this phone is making its way to this side of world just yet.

Lucasfilm president hopes to do a Lando-centric ‘Solo’ film

It looks like Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy is looking to expand the Star Wars universe further. After Solo: A Star Wars Story premiered at the Cannes Film Festival on May 11th, Kennedy was quoted talking about possible future stories exploring the lives of Han, Chewbacca, and Lando Calrissian, among others. Kennedy supposedly told Premiere France that the next Solo spin-off was going to focus on Lando. But the production company later said Kennedy had been misquoted. A rep from Lucasfilm said, “[Kennedy] said it’s something she’d like to do one day in the future.” If this does happen, and we won’t be surprised if it does, this means there are definitely a whole lot more stories we can expect from the ever-growing Star Wars universe.

Apple could possibly ship blue, yellow, and pink iPhones later this year according to analyst

Colour has always played a part in Apple's product strategy with certain colours being sold as exclusive or limited editions at a premium, as well as new colours, preferably red, to inject more interest into older or plateauing product lines.
