Alienware explores a game server for your home with Concept Nyx

Source: Alienware

Alienware is toying around with the idea of making gaming in a multi-gamer home a more seamless experience. Ahead of CES 2022, the Dell-owned brand showed off its Concept Nyx prototype.

It's a powerful server capable of running the games on your home network. The server parks near your modem or router and directly connects via Ethernet. It can stream from the cloud to your devices over Wi-Fi, allowing different household members to play different games simultaneously or play multiplayer games together without affecting your Wi-Fi speed or causing any input lag.

Alienware redesigns flagship Aurora gaming desktop for its 25th anniversary

Alienware celebrates its 25 years of existence with a new look for the Aurora desktop gaming PC. The latest version has a redesigned chassis with additional internal space and more efficient airflow. This stylish gaming PC should also run more quietly. This open-air Legend 2.0 chassis has 50% more internal volume than the Aurora R12 or R10 without significant changes to the machine's overall size.

You won't need tools to open up the shell, making it easier to access the components. And for those who want to show the machine's interiors, the Dell-owned brand offers an optional transparent side panel that lets you see the motherboard lit up by up to eight zones of AlienFX lighting. Alienware is also offering an optional magnetic cable cover for some tidying at the back of the machine.

CES 2020: Alienware debuts Nintendo Switch-like Concept UFO gaming device

Alienware's newest concept will look familiar to mobile gamers. The Concept UFO looks similar to the Nintendo Switch in several ways, but it hopes to be more powerful than that. The Concept UFO hopes to bring PC gaming into a more compact form factor. The handheld gaming device weighs around two pounds and has an 8-inch display with detachable controllers similar to the Nintendo Switch Joy-Con controllers. The vital differentiator is that it runs on Windows 10. This could mean the console can play different PC titles from platforms and services like Steam, the Epic Games Store, Xbox Game Pass PC, and Origin.

But Alienware isn't divulging much else about the gaming device. Its current form could still change. The company isn't saying when the device might be available (or if it will be available at all). For now, some of the things Alienware has to work on would be battery life and even price. Their gaming products tend to be more expensive, and that would be a significant hindrance to some gamers who might consider buying the Concept UFO.
