LG Canada rolls out Android 5.0 Lollipop for G3 users

Your wait is finally over. LG G3 users in Canada are finally getting the latest OS update for Android, Android 5.0 Lollipop. Android Lollipop brings a new design language to Android with Material Design. The notifications bar gets a new layout and the colour scheme and other animations have been changed up, too. Lollipop OS runs on the new Android Runtime software that is said to boost overall performance.

If you’ve been thinking about getting a G3 but haven’t yet, now might be a good time to get yourself one. It is available through Bell, Fido, MTS, Rogers, Sasktel, Videotron, and Virgin Mobile Canada. It is also sold through national retailers like Best Buy Canada, Future Shop, Tbooth wireless, The Source, WIRELESSWAVE, WIRELESS etc…, and WOW mobile.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play edition gets Android Lollipop update

Google is rolling out Android Lollipop to the Google Play edition of Samsung Galaxy S4. It’s joining the list of OTA updates for GPe devices that include the Motorola Moto G, HTC One M7, and HTC One M8. However, unlike the other GPe devices, the S4 is getting the Android 5.0 update instead of the Android 5.0.1. Keep your eyes peeled for the OTA to come your way. But if you use a standard Galaxy device, you will have to wait a bit more.

Android Lollipop update for HTC One Google Play Editions gets delayed

A bit of bad news for those waiting for the Android 5.0 (Lollipop) update for the Google Play Editions of the HTC One M7 and M8 versions. The update is being pushed back a bit again. Mo Versi, vice president of product management at HTC, said there is another software version request, meaning more work still needs to be done until the update is released. Versi did promise its users though that they will let us know when the update is finally ready and that it gets its nod from Google.

2013 Wi-Fi models of Nexus 7 running on Android Lollipop have video playback issues

It doesn’t come as a surprise that software updates come with the occasional bugs. This time around the new Android 5.0 Lollipop update seems to be causing trouble for some of the 2013 Wi-Fi models of the Google Nexus 7. After updating and watching a few videos, the video player seems to get lost and your system can’t locate it. You won’t be able to access videos using pretty much most players.

We’re hoping Google addresses this soon but temporarily what you can do is watch videos on a different device. Or you can try displaying the “Use NuPlayer” option in the developer options menu, reboot the device, or wipe the cache from your device.
