Report finds that factory reset on Android devices don’t wipe all the data

If you thought factory resetting your smartphone before selling it would wipe all the data on it, then this new report debunks that idea. Security software firm Avast bought 20 different Android phones on eBay and used data-recovery tools on all of them. They were able to uncover 40,000 photos (over 1,500 family photos and around 250 photos of someone’s “manhood”), 250 contacts with names and addresses, loan applications, 750 emails, and even a completed sexual harassment course.

Asus unveils three Intel-powered ZenFone smartphones

Asus reveals a new line of Intel-powered smartphones at CES 2014. The ZenFone will be available in 6-, 5-, and 4-inch screen sizes and equipped with Zen UI, Android 4.3 (with future upgrade capability to 4.4 KitKat), 1GB RAM, HSPA+, and microSD card slot for up to 64GB expansion. Their differences lie in a few spec changes between devices.

Motorola outs Motoluxe 4-inch Android Smartphone, will appear sometime in Q2

The new Motorola Motoluxe by Motorola Mobility Canada Ltd. is a midrange Android smartphone featuring a new interface that learns what users like and adapts to help them carry out common tasks faster. The Motoluxe is said to be coming out sometime in Q2 2012.

The Android–powered smartphone is focused on a unique design and thin profile and a new multi-coloured LED notification light so users can easily keep track of incoming calls, texts or e-mails. With a 4-inch touchscreen that’s perfect for surfing the web and watching movies.

Review: HTC Raider Android Smartphone

As we head into the end of 2011, we're seeing smartphone makers launching their devices in time for the big holiday shopping season. In the Android space, we're seeing super-smartphones by the bunches including Google's chosen one, the Galaxy Nexus, Motorola's resurgent RAZR, LG's resplendent Optimus LTE and HTC has delivered the Raider and Amaze flagship phones. We look at what looks to be one of the strongest devices we've seen so far, the HTC Raider.
