TIFF partners with Bell Media for 'Parasite' and 'Paris is Burning' cinema nights

The Toronto International Film Festival continues its partnership with Bell Media to host "Stay-at-Home Cinema" nights with two new entries. The record-breaking Korean film Parasite will be streaming on Tuesday, June 2, with a live stream that kicks off at 7 pm ET. The movie starts at 7:30 pm ET. The live stream will have Cameron Bailey, artistic director and co-head of TIFF, along with filmmaker Sharon Choi, who served as Parasite director Bong Joon Ho's interpreter, and Tom Quinn, co-founder of Parasite's North American distributor, Neon.

On Friday, June 5, the 1990 documentary Paris is Burning will be streaming at the same time in celebration of Pride Month 2020. It will also have a featured guest, but it hasn't been confirmed who the guest will be. If you want to participate in these experiences, you will need to have a Crave subscription with a starting price of $9.99 a month.

Seth Rogen, Alessia Cara will join Bell Media's Unsinkable Youth special

Canadian superstars Seth Rogen and Alessia Cara are all set to join Bell Media's hour-long special tomorrow, May 22, at 1 pm ET in support of Canadian youth. The company partnered with Unsinkable and Kids Help Phone for this special program airing on CTV, and everywhere CTV content can be found. Unsinkable founder and Olympian rower Silken Laumann and Netflix's Never Have I Ever star Maitreyi Ramakrishnan will be hosting the show.

Bell Media is the Canadian partner for 'One World: Together at Home' digital event

Global Citizen and the World Health Organization partnered with Lady Gaga for an international two-hour live concert that is meant to celebrate the healthcare workers on the front lines of the pandemic. The star-studded, Lady Gaga-curated "One World: Together at Home" benefit concert is happening on April 18 and will air live on at 8 pm ET on CTV, CTV2, TSN, CP24, MUCH, MTV, and in french on VRAK. Bell Media is a Canadian partner for the virtual concert. iHeartRadio Canada will live-stream the event through its mobile app and radio stations. It will also be streamed on almost every major streaming service. The partnership with Bell means the performance will be available on-demand in English and French on Crave as well as on the CTV app and website after the live simulcast.

Aside from Lady Gaga, you can expect performances from the likes of Coldplay's Chris Martin, Elton John, Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, Paul McCartney, Lizzo, to name a few. Late-night hosts Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, and Stephen Colbert will be hosting the event.

Bell extends Crave's free trial period from 7 days to 30 days

Bell Media's Crave streaming service is offering an extended trial period for new subscribers. The free trial period is up to 30 days instead of Crave's usual seven-day trial. The offer will be available until April 30. While Bell didn't mention COVID-19 specifically, the move seems to target the many potential subscribers who are currently at home because of the pandemic. The offer extends to the standard Crave subscription but also available for those who want to try packages that include Movies + HBO, Starz, and Super Écran, which is the new French-language option. It can be claimed through the Crave mobile app on Android and iOS or Crave.ca.

Standard subscription offers viewers access to Crave Originals like New Eden as well as other content like Hulu's The Handmaid's Tale and CBS' Star Trek: Picard. The Movies + HBO add-on offers popular HBO series' like Game of Thrones, Succession, and Westworld as well as recent films like Hobbs & Shaw and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which is arriving on the platform on March 27. Starz will give you access to shows like Spartacus.
