Trudeau slams Bell Media layoffs, citing harm to local journalism

Prime Minister Trudeau blasted BCE Inc.'s layoffs at Bell Media, including cuts to local newscasts and radio stations, calling it a "garbage decision." He expressed his anger at a press conference, citing a $140 million decline in Bell Media's advertising revenue and $40 million in annual news division losses.

Bell Media announced on Thursday it would end multiple television newscasts and other programming following its parent company's job cuts. It also put on sale 45 of its 103 regional radio stations.

Forensic Factor: A New Era will premiere on Friday, November 17 at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT on Crave, CTV.ca, and the CTV app. The six-episode series follows how cutting-edge forensic science and dedicated crime scene investigators work together to solve the most baffling crimes. It is a reboot of the classic Discovery Original Canadian docuseries Forensic Factor, which ran for six seasons from 2003.

Crave gets rights to stream recent 'Sesame Street' episodes

It hasn't been the easiest to find the latest episodes of Sesame Street in the country. We had to wait for it to show up on PBS. But the Bell Media-owned Crave secured rights to bring the educational children's show to the streaming service starting Friday. Crave will roll out all 35 episodes of season 51, which debuted on HBO Max in late 2020 in the US and through the Public Broadcasting Service last year.

And then, in September, it will add 35 episodes from season 52, which is now rolling out in the US through HBO Max. This latest season introduces Ji-Young, the first Asian-American muppet in the show's canon.
