Google starts rolling out call screening transcripts to Pixel owners

You might no longer need to look at your Pixel’s screen to see if the call is worth answering. Google has reportedly started rolling out Call Screen transcripts to the Pixel 3 and the older Pixels. Call Screen lets Google Assistant answer your phone calls for you and it asks the caller the purpose of the call and you’ll get to see a live transcription of the conversation. But now, you’ll be able to look at the conversation after the call has ended with the new transcripts option, which lets you save them after the call ends. The Call Screen transcripts are accessible through the Recents tab on your phone app. You can choose any call you want to look at that you’ve screened and select Call Details. There should be a See Transcript option there. It’s unclear how widely the feature has been rolled out, though, so best to keep checking if it’s available for you. For now, you might have to keep checking your phone when it answers a call for you.

Google starts rolling out Call Screen to Pixel 2 and 2 XL in the US

One of the new handy features launched along side the Pixel 3 devices is a new Call Screen feature. This lets Assistant answer calls on your behalf and record messages for you. It’ll ask the caller to explain the reason for the call and pass this message on to you. You can even customize Assistant’s responses and even listen in on the call and decide if you want to answer or not. It’s a feature particularly useful for nuisance phone calls. Well now, the rollout for said feature is coming to some Pixel 2 and 2 XL devices in the US. Unfortunately, there is no word yet when it’s coming this way. But we’re hoping it’s sooner rather than later.

Google Pixel 3 can screen your calls for you

Nothing much was surprising about the hardware of the new Pixel phones. But as we touched on here, the more surprising elements are what is happening inside these smartphones. One of the features we like is Call Screen, which as its name suggests will screen calls for you before you decide if you want to answer. When you get a call, you'll be given the option to screen it. If this is activated, the phone will let the caller know it's talking to a machine and asks who's on the line and why they are calling. This will be transcribed in real time so you get to see who's calling and whether you will answer the call, end it, or report it as spam. Call Screen is first coming with the Pixel 3 but will later ship to older Pixel phones.
