The combination of a touch screen for quick navigation, the touchpad for granular control and editing, as well as the keyboard make using the BlackBerry Classic a pleasure if messaging and typing are what you do most on your smartphone.

BlackBerry Bold fans rejoice! BlackBerry has resurrected the experience, QWERTY-keyboard and legendary “toolbelt,” which has the phone calling buttons as well as the trackpad that made the Bold 9900 the darling of CEOs in boardrooms everywhere as well as the messaging mavens’ tool of choice.

The Apple Beat: Apple's Year in Review

2014 was a momentous one for Apple. The company ramped up its leadership with a number of of key personnel, made its biggest ever acquisition with Beats and showed they were ready to compete in the supersized-smartphone  and wearables space by releasing the iPhone 6 Plus as well as previewing the Apple Watch. 

It was definitely CEO Tim Cook’s landmark year as Apple leader, the Apple Watch was the first new product category he launched and the event and succeeding hype and interest over the Apple Watch and what it can offer was notable. 

Apple also updated most of its product lines. It introduced a game changing 27-inch iMac that offers an industry leading 5K display, the first for a desktop (or commercially available monitor) anywhere.

plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose - The BlackBerry Classic takes us back to the future

BlackBerry didn't just get the band together for a farewell tour for their diminishing but rabid fanbase. The company commited substantial manpower and engineering into bringing to life a modern BlackBerry smartphone that's replete with the familiar, reliable and almost quirky feature set that users loved four of five years ago.

There's great power in nostalgia. Just ask carmarkers like VW, Mini, Fiat and even Ford, which relentlessly and successfully peddle newfangled and modernized versions of their iconic and best-selling products from yesteryear.

At first glance, many might dismiss the BlackBerry Classic as the smartphone equivalent of a "New Beetle", a new product that's riding on the reputation and the popularity of BlackBerrys iconic Bold line but which has very little in common with its famous predecessor. The truth is, there's much more to the BlackBerry Classic than meets the eye.
