Capcom to release a ‘Z Version’ of ‘Resident Evil 2’ remake in Japan

Capcom plans to have two versions of its Resident Evil 2 remake in Japan. One is going to be a standard version called Biohazard RE:2 and the other will be the more mature Biohazard RE:2 Z Version. The former will carry a CERO D rating, which restricts it for 17 years old players or older; the latter comes with a CERO Z rating, which is meant for 18 years old or older players. The “adult version” will contain more gore than the standard one. Biohazard RE:2 will censor some of the gore and violence in the Z Version. Now, we can’t say how much it’ll censor as the game is still in development.

Capcom to release PS4 and Xbox One versions of ‘Resident Evil 5’ on June 28th

Are you a Resident Evil fan? Then you might have heard that Capcom’s been celebrating the 20^th anniversary of the series by selling some of its greatest hits again. But they’re doing it in reverse order. They started with Resident Evil 6 back in March and are working their way towards the game that redefined the series: Resident Evil 4. Before that release though, Capcom is releasing Resident Evil 5 first for the Microsoft Xbox One and Sony PlayStation 4. The Xbox One and PS4 releases come will all the original game’s add-on content. RE5 is the game that first introduced local co-op play in the franchise.  

The digital version of the game will retail for US$20 (around CA$26) in North America and will be coming on June 28^th. The physical disc, meanwhile, will come out on July 12^th for the same price.

Capcom establishes mobile division with four games in the works

Capcom acknowledges the growth of the mobile gaming market and is now looking to cash in on it. The company went through reorganization to establish a new dedicated mobile business division to “aggressively release titles utilizing its IP” including brands like Mega Man, Monster Hunter, and Sengoku BASARA. Capcom has officially integrated Beeline Interactive Japan Inc. to create Capcom Mobile Co., Ltd., this was previously pursuing a different strategy from Capcom. But with plans to release games globally, they will need all the help they can get. Four mobile titles are expected to be released by the company’s fiscal year end next March. Three out of the four are the aforementioned titles.
