Netflix saves ‘Lucifer’ from cancellation

Michael Courtney/FOX

Lucifer was one of the shows that we’re put on the chopping block after its third season. We say was as Netflix just picked up the show from Fox. Lucifer’s official Twitter account has confirmed the news. While the show wasn’t a major ratings hit for Fox, its fans wouldn’t take the cancellation lying down, especially with a cliffhanger for an ending in its third season. Now, at least we know the show is coming back for a fourth season. We don’t know yet how many episodes or when it’ll air but we’ll keep you updated when we learn more.

Kevin Feige talks about future of X-Men and Fantastic Four in the MCU

Ever since the news broke that Disney is set to buy most of 20th Century Fox, people have been excitedly talking about the possibilities of the X-Men and Fantastic Four being part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Marvel’s boss and producer Kevin Feige shares his thoughts on the matter. He shuts down rumours saying these Marvel superheroes won’t be making a cameo in Avengers 4 set to come out in 2019. The earliest he says they can come in would be the year 2020.

Talking to Vulture, Feige says, “The truth of the matter as I understand it is the deal has to be figured out. There’s been no communication. We’re not thinking about it. We’re focusing on everything we’ve already announced. If and when the deal actually happens, we’ll start to think more about it.” He adds, “We’ve announced everything through 2019, so none of those would be adjusted.” So far, after Avengers 4, we know that Phase 4 of the MCU will be kicked off with the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel as well as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Disney to buy most of 20th Century Fox for $52 billion

By Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

As far as blockbuster deals go, you can't do better than this. In its efforts to consolidate a roster of properties in order to counter the surging popularity of Netflix, Disney will be buying most of 20th Century Fox for an unprecedented $52 billion dollars.

The Mouse House stands to gain a number of marquee properties from Rupert Murdoch's Fox that it can very well spin off into movies, toys and merchandising and even theme park rides. We're talking huge properties including cable channels FX and National Geographic as well as Fox's stakes in streaming service Hulu, which positions it nicely against Netflix. Fox will retain the mosre serious side of their portfolio of products including Fox News, Fox Sports and Fox Business Networks.
