Huawei P40 Pro expected to come to Canadian carriers this summer

Huawei's latest flagship is expected to arrive this summer through Canadian carriers. But as MobileSyrup reports, it isn't clear which carriers will be carrying the device and how much it will cost. When companies like Huawei bring phones into the country, one of the biggest challenges is pricing. Without telecom partners to subsidize phone prices, the premium handsets get steep prices, which might be said for Mate 30 Pro. With the P40 Pro coming in through carriers, it might help ease the financial burden a bit. Although we still need to remind you that this new Huawei flagship doesn't have Google services. Huawei tries to make up for this with apps and services like App Gallery, Phone Clone, and MoreApps to help you access the apps you need.

Huawei Mate 30 Pro will be available in Canada on May 8

The Huawei Mate 30 Pro will be available this month in Canada. Starting May 8, you can purchase the flagship phone through Staples, Newegg, The Shopping Channel, and Visions Electronics for $1,399.99. It must be noted that the Mate 30 Pro doesn't have Google Play Store and Google Play Services installed because the U.S. ban placed on the company still stands. You'll have to use Huawei's AppGallery to get apps, or you can use Huawei's Phone Clone app to transfer apps from your previous devices.

The Mate 30 Pro is powered by HiSilicon Kirin 990 processor, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and EMUI 10. The smartphone has a 6.53-inch waterfall display, quad-camera setup at the back, dual selfie cameras, and a 4,500mAh battery.

Huawei P40 Series launch will be an online-only event

As concerns of the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) mount, we see more and more events getting cancelled. The latest casualty is Huawei's P40 launch, which was supposed to take place in Paris, France. In its place, the company will be hosting an online event on March 26, which Huawei did for the launch of the Huawei Mate XS last month following the cancellation of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.

Huawei is expected to launch three variants of the flagship series: the Huawei P40, Huawei P40 Pro, and Huawei P40 Pro Premium Edition. Revu reported on some of the rumoured camera specifications that it believes to refer to the Huawei P40 Pro Premium Edition. The prolific tipster who shared the specs claims it's for the standard Huawei P40 Pro, but with what's been presented, it could well be the most premium of the line.
