KFConsole is a game console and chicken warmer in one

Source: KFC

KFC—yes, that KFC—has a game console. And from the looks of it, it can rival the new Sony and Microsoft consoles while keeping your fried chicken warm. KFC partnered with PC hardware manufacturer Cooler Master to develop the KFConsole. It was first teased in June and garnered tons of interest, which is unsurprising because it's an unusual move from the popular fast-food chain.

The KFConsole has a custom-built cooling system that extracts system heat through the outside of the chicken chamber, which will keep the hardware cool and the chicken warm. The specs aren't available yet, but it promises to have a top-end Intel CPU, ASUS hot-swappable mini-GPU, and two Seagate NVMe 1TB SSD cards. So, yes, it can play more demanding games, too. It seems like the most 2020 thing to come out, and we love that. There is no release date or price yet, but it does have a website. Maybe it will come out. We do wonder, though, if it will pass health and safety regulations.

KFC restaurant concept in China lets you pay using your smile

There will come a day when you just need to smile at a camera and your meal will be paid for. At least it looks like we’re heading in that direction. A more health-conscious KFC concept restaurant called KPRO in Hangzhou, China has started to use Alipay facial recognition payment system that will let you pay for your meal with a smile and your mobile phone number. The kiosk that takes the orders will scan your face and require you to enter your mobile phone number to safeguard against fraud.

The system, which is aptly called Smile to Pay, is developed by Alibaba Group affiliate Ant Financial Services Group. According to the company, they’ve been improving the technology since the beta version was launched by Alibaba founder Jack Ma in 2015 at CEBIT in Germany. While it’s a first service of its kind, using facial recognition for payment services isn’t an exclusive to Ant. The likes of Samsung, PayPal, NEC, and MasterCard have also been testing out this technology.

The Watt A Box limited edition promo pairs your chicken 5-in-1 meal with a USB port and a 6,100mAh rechargeable battery. You get a Lightning USB cable as well as a mini-USB port for Android devices. And, of course, you can take out the battery and use it again, because what a waste that would be if you couldn’t.
