Microsoft updates Next Lock Screen app on Android

Microsoft just updated its Next Lock Screen app for Android. The app now lets you lock the smartphone with a PIN or pattern and it disables the home button press to prevent any accidental unlocks. This Android-exclusive app also now supports three languages (English, Spanish, and Chinese or Mandarin, to be specific). Of course, it comes with the usual bug fixes and performance optimization.

HTC offers Sense 6 lock screen on Google Play

HTC continues to unbundle its system apps and this time around the Sense 6 lock screen is decoupled from its firmware. However, you won’t be able to get this if your device isn’t running Sense 6. But for those who can run this, you would need to reboot after you install the lock screen. It’s not the most utilitarian app but it’s a good thing that it is making its way to Play Store so updates can get to us faster. If you own a One M8 or M7 you might be prompted to update pretty soon.

Start brings another customizable lock screen to Android

If you’ve been looking for an alternative to Cover or your basic Android lock screen, Start offers you an alternative you might want to check out. This lock screen replacement lets you access your favorite apps and social feeds as well as make calls and text messages without leaving your lock screen. Start lets you choose what relevant apps you’d like to see on your lock screen. It also has mini versions of apps for things like Twitter, Facebook, and your news feed. You can also tweak the lock screen to suit your style and taste. It is also designed to work with your phone’s security features and it lets you specify only what things you can do while your screen is locked.
