Are we getting a War Machine series for Disney+?

If this rumour pans out, it looks like Marvel hasn’t forgotten about the other guy who has donned the Iron Man suit, War Machine. His story will reportedly be told through a miniseries on Disney’s upcoming streaming service. But it’s said that this story is still in its early development stage, so we might have a bit of a wait until we get any confirmation. It’s expected that Don Cheadle will reprise his role as Col. James Rhodes. The confirmed Disney+ shows we have at this moment include WandaVision, Loki, and Falcon and The Winter Soldier. Perhaps we’ll hear more about this at Marvel’s upcoming panel at SDCC 2019.

Taika Waititi will reportedly direct ‘Thor 4’

After the success of Thor: Ragnarok, director Taika Waititi is making a comeback to reportedly direct and write the fourth Thor film. Marvel’s win is going to be Warner’s loss as it’s being reported that he has to put his take on Akira on hold. This long-gestating adaptation of the Japanese manga was penciled in for a May 21, 2021 release. Waititi was said to be testing actors around the world for the project. But production dates for the two projects started to clash against each other, and it looks like Waititi wants to put his focus on Thor.

It doesn’t help that Warner’s project had some script development issues as well. The production company intends to keep the director involved in the film, so it’s being reported they want him to pick it up after he wraps up with Thor 4. The announcement comes at an opportune (or possibly intentional) time. With Marvel showing up at the San Diego Comic-Con this year, we can expect to hear about this project then.

The description of the panel says “Marvel Studios president and producer Kevin Feige and surprise panelists provide an inside look at the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe.” Now, what we’re waiting for is how much of Phase 4 will Feige reveal. MCU is known for keeping its cards very, very close to its chest. Right now the things we know are Black Widow is filming and projects in different stages of pre-production include The Eternals, Doctor Strange 2, and Black Panther 2. And we might also get Spider-Man-related news because it’s being said that Sony’s and Marvel’s deal means there would be another Spider-Man film coming in 2021.

Marvel is making a Hall H appearance at San Diego Comic-Con 2019

After not showcasing anything at last year’s San Diego Comic-Con, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is making a comeback this year. A pretty interesting move considering we don’t know what Disney’s MCU has planned after Spider-Man: Far From Home premieres this month. We’re most likely going to hear what the new slate is going to be for the coming year/s. Perhaps even footage from director Cate Shortland’s standalone Black Widow film. According to Collider, we might hear from The Eternals, Shang-Chi, and even a Doctor Strange sequel. We must also consider the Disney+ live-action series like Loki and Falcon & Winter Soldier, among other things. SDCC is about a month away, so the wait isn’t going to be long until we find out what the MCU is cooking up for us.
