The latest promo for ‘Avengers: Endgame’ is a harsh reminder of who we lost

Courtesy of MCU_Direct/Twitter

With Avengers: Endgame just a month away from coming out and Marvel is reminding us of the heroes we’ve lost in Infinity War. Each actor who had an Instagram or Twitter account posted their character posters with the words “Avenge the Fallen” written over their faces. All posts also had the caption “1 Month. #AvengersEndgame” which refers to the worldwide premiere happening on April 26th. One clever thing Marvel did was colour the posters of the MCU heroes we assume are still alive while leaving those in grey we thought we’ve lost already (Hey! We’re still not losing hope.)

There are fake footage in the ‘Avengers: Endgame’

If you’ve been losing your mind trying to decipher the Avengers: Endgame trailer, we’re going to have to tell you to stop obsessing. One of the film’s directors Joe Russo admitted that there are fake scenes in the trailer to throw off fans from the movie’s true plot. The Russos want to make sure that they don’t give away the story ahead of Endgame’s premiere. They want fans to be truly surprised when they hit the theater next month. While talking to Empire Magazine, Joe said, “We talked about all scales of marketing. The thing that’s most important to us is that we preserve the surprise of the narrative. When I was a kid and saw The Empire Strikes Back at 11am on the day it opened… it so profoundly moved me because I didn’t know a damn thing about the story I was going to watch. We’re trying to replicate that experience.” And we personally think that’s a good way to enjoy a film, especially one as big as this one.

Stan Lee’s last cameo isn’t in ‘Captain Marvel’

Marvel’s latest offering reminds us of the legacy that Stan Lee left behind right from the get-go. Captain Marvel opens with a modified version of the Marvel Studios’ signature, which features many photos of Stan instead of the MCU heroes. The introduction was also followed by a simple text that says, “Thank you, Stan.” But that isn’t just the only appearance of the icon in the film. And it seems it won’t be the last time we see him in a Marvel Cinematic Universe movie, either. According to an interview Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige did with ET Online, we still have more Stan sightings to come. "We shot a couple of others, so we're coming up on the last of them, yes," he said. Feige also confirmed that one of said cameos is for the next MCU movie, Avengers: Endgame. When asked about Spider-Man: Far From Home, he offered, "We'll see." For now, you can catch Stan in Captain Marvel, which is already out in theatres.

The latest rumour surrounding the Scarlett Johansson’s first solo movie in the MCU is that they’re considering actor Andre Holland to play a villain role in the film. Andre has earned critical acclaim for his role in Moonlight as well as Hulu’s Castle Rock. According to the report, Marvel was initially looking for a “male with open ethnicity in his 40s to portray the film’s villain.” But now it’s being narrowed down to either a Black British or African actor between the ages 30 and 45 to portray a “tough, dangerous, and mysterious” villain. Some theories about who this could be include Taskmaster or Red Guardian.
