Razer CEO explains removal of headphone jack on its first smartphone

A lot of people continue to gripe over the fact that we’re slowly starting to lose the headphone jack port. It seems a big enough issue for Razer’s CEO Min-Liang Tan to comment on. According to Tan, the company had to remove the headphone hack for two main reasons: improve battery capacity by as much as 500mAh as well as provide better thermal performance. It is a device geared towards gamers, both are necessary things.

Tan also added that the Razer Phone comes with an audio adapter that supports 24-bit THX-certified DAC. He also mentions the two Razer headphones the company has released specifically for the phone: the HammerHead and HammerHead BT. The former connects via the USB-C connector, while the latter connects via Bluetooth (which you can see in the photo above).
