SlideShow: Three generations of Motorola Moto G

By Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

The Moto G has always been an impressive smartphone not just for the topline features it offered to entry-level and midrange users, but also because Motorola managed to price it affordably and make it available contract-free.

We were impressed by the first generation Moto G as well as the subsequent 2nd Gen which introduced more water resistance as well as 4G-LTE in some markets. The Moto G (3rd Gen) looks to be the best and most refined version so far. It feels solid, well put together and is also lighter and less chunky than its predecessor.

We're loving the new colour combinations and the removable shells are durable and also water resistant. Here are some shots of the three generations of Moto G devices hanging out together.

Microsoft Hyperlapse app adds more support for Android devices

Microsoft updated its Hyperlapse beta app on Android to add more devices it can support. It now works on Motorola Moto X, Motorola Moto G (first and second generation), and the Samsung Galaxy S4, and Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4. The prerequisite bug fixes are also in this update.

This Hyperlapse app is similar to the one Instagram released. It lets you create sped up, steady video of your many adventures. And since Instagram hasn’t released their version yet, the Microsoft one is the next best thing to use.

Android 4.4.2 update for Motorola Moto G causes issues for some users

Some Motorola Moto G owners who got the Android 4.4.2 update seem to be having trouble with their devices post-update. There are users who complain about intermittent signal loss and even SIM card connection after updating the device. It doesn’t seem to be a permanent issue though. Users just need to turn the phone off and on again to regain signal. But that seems like a tedious thing to do. Motorola is working on a fix for the problem now.

Motorola revamps Gallery app

Motorola brings a fresh look to its Gallery app with a new update that works with Android 4.4-powered Droid Maxx, Droid Mini, Droid Ultra, Moto G, and Moto X. It gets a new light-coloured design and added more ways to view photos. You can now view images in a timeline view, which groups images according to the date they were taken. There is also Camera Roll mode, which offers larger thumbnail views of images taken by the phone’s camera.
