Acer’s Liquid Jade 2 introduces 1TB hybrid cloud storage

Acer’s taking some cues from the Nextbit Robin with one of its new smartphones launched at Mobile World Congress 2016. The new Liquid Jade 2 will be offering a hybrid cloud storage that is ten times more than what the Nextbit Robin is offering. So, yes instead of 100GB storage, you get 1TB of it. According to Acer, it “seamlessly integrates local storage with cloud storage.” But we have to test it out first to see how “seamless” it actually is.

In terms of hardware specs, the Liquid Jade successor carries a 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB internal storage (on top of the 1TB cloud storage), a 21MP rear camera with dual LED flash and 4K video recording, and an 8MP front camera. It’s an LTE Cat 6 device that runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. No details yet on the battery and pricing and availability of the Jade 2. For multimedia junkies though, that hybrid storage could be a very attractive feature.

Samsung to stream Galaxy S7 launch on Gear VR

If you own a Gear VR, you can watch Samsung’s MWC launch of the Galaxy S7 in virtual reality. What you’ll need to have is a Samsung device and a Gear VR (of course). You would also need to download the Unpacked 360 View app from the Oculus Store. Once Sunday comes, all you need to do is open the app and watch the new Galaxy devices be presented to you in all its VR glory.

If you don’t have the VR headset and don’t particularly care for it, you can still stream it right from your desktop or download the same app from Google Play. And no, you don’t have to be a Samsung user to access the app.

New leak shows off the curved glass back of the Samsung Galaxy S7

Samsung is set to unveil its new flagship devices at the Mobile World Congress on February 21. Leaks of the device have been floating around for a while. The latest one shows off the curved glass back of the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge. It shows how the similar the new Galaxy devices will look when compared with its predecessor. But the frame does seem more rounded this time. It also sports a new heart rate monitor and what’s speculated to be a larger camera sensor. We just have a few more weeks to wait until the new Galaxy devices get released.

LG sends out invites for MWC event on February 21st

With CES out of the way, we head over to Barcelona, Spain in February for the Mobile World Congress. MWC’s usually the place where tech companies out their best smartphones and tablets. LG’s trying to stay ahead of the pack by already sending out invites for their event happening on February 21st, a day ahead of the actual MWC opening.

You can glean much from the invite except it says: “Play begins.” LG usually launches its G flagship devices around April or May. Perhaps this could be a new line or LG’s bumping up the release of the G5. Any guesses on what they might have up their sleeves?
