Google Meet on Nest Hub Max now supports 100 participants

Canadian Nest Hub Max users can now host or participate in Google Meet video conferences with up to 100 people. Other Google Assistant-supported smart displays will get the feature, too. But, as usual, Google is bringing its updates first to its hardware. Nest Hub Max won't be able to show you all 100 people at once, but if it's similar to Google Duo, it shows eight people at the same time.

You can start a meeting just by saying, "Hey Google, start a meeting." Or join a video conference by saying, "Hey Google, join a meeting." When you ask to join a call, your Nest Hub Max will ask you to input the meeting code. This Google Meet support page has more answers about using the Nest Hub Max for meetings.

Nest Hub Max is now up for pre-order in Canada, retails for $299

If you've been waiting for the Nest Hub Max to make its way here, Google just announced that it'd be coming to Canada for $299. It is now available for pre-order, and it will arrive at the end of the month. It's available in Charcoal and Chalk colour options.

The smart display is a larger version of the Nest Hub, which means it lets you watch YouTube videos on it, ask questions, and control your smart home devices. It has a 10-inch 1,920 x 1,080 resolution screen that auto-adjusts to the lighting around it. It has a front-facing camera for video chat, facial recognition, and even as a security camera. Much like Motion Sense on the Pixel 4 series, you can use gestures to start and pause videos and alarms.

PC Canada reportedly leaks pricing for Nest Wifi, Nest Hub Max, Nest Mini

On top of Best Buy Canada's leak of the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL, PC Canada may have possibly leaked the pricing for the rumoured Nest Wifi device launching alongside the phones. This "new Google Wifi" is being referred to as "Mistral," and it shows up like that on the retailer's site with the retail price of $192.99. The two-pack version (the primary router and smaller beacons, we presume) costing $292.99, while the three-pack variant goes for $384.99.

But that doesn't seem to be the only Made by Google device coming to Canada, a device codenamed "Newman" was also seen on the listing. This refers to the Nest Hub Max smart display. Its pricing is set at $270.99.

Google accidentally leaks possible Nest smart display

Google made a boo-boo and accidentally unveiled what could be a new Nest smart display. The company updated the connected home section of the Google Store and the new product surfaced there. It showed off the benefits of the new Nest Hub Max, which is a product that doesn’t exist yet. It’s said to feature a 10-inch HD display with built-in Nest Camera and stereo speakers. With Nest’s extensive smart home product lineup, it makes sense the company dip into the smart display market. It would be a central hub to control the company’s products.
