Rogers celebrates NHL All-Star Weekend in Toronto with Stanley Cup surprise

Toronto hockey fans got a special treat this morning as Rogers brought the Stanley Cup and Toronto Maple Leafs legend Tomas Kaberle to the TTC subway. Kaberle, who won the Cup with the Boston Bruins in 2011, joined the commuters on the “red rocket” and posed for pictures with the iconic trophy.

The fun continued at Union Station, where Rogers laid out the red carpet for more fan interactions, giveaways and surprises.

'NHL 22' introduces women's teams for the first time

Ahead of the Winter Olympics, EA has finally introduced women's teams to its NHL games for the first time. You can pick one of 10 women's International Ice Hockey Federation national squads in NHL 22. You can pick teams from Canada, the Czech Republic (Czechia), Denmark, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Japan, Russia, Switzerland, and the USA.

NHL 22 also gets IIHF Men's World and Juniors teams. Aside from competing in IIHF World Championship tournaments, the Men's and Women's teams are playable in the Play Now, Online Versus, Threes Now, and Offline/Online Shootouts modes.

Amazon Alexa can recap NBA and NHL game stats for you

It’s not an entirely novel idea that voice assistants can give you details about your favorite sports. But Amazon promises it can go a little deeper to help you get to the stats that matter to you. The latest update coming to Alexa will let you recap NBA and NHL games and even get individual stats for different players. You can find out how many points a player scored or summarize a match for you. It can let you know when the next NBA or NHL playoff games begin and which teams made the cut. You can get playoff-specific stats, too. So, if you’re a big fan of these two leagues, you might appreciate this new Alexa feature a whole lot.

Google Search and Newsstand now has real-time NBA and NHL updates

Google is making it easier for you to keep up with your favorite NBA and NHL teams with the latest update to its Google Play Newsstand and Google Search apps. From Newsstand, you’ll be able to see dedicated NBA and Stanley Cup Playoffs sections. There you’ll get play-by-play information as well as other local and national news about the sports. Now if you don’t want to use Newsstand, you can simply go to Google Search. The updates will be displayed in Google’s “Knowledge Panels” so you can check everything there.
