Google enters wireless router segment with OnHub

Google has entered the rather congested wireless router game and has done so with the help of manufacturer TP-Link. Called the OnHub, Googe's dead-easy to use router has a uniquely Canadian connection as Google’s Kitchener-Waterloo engineering site played an instrumental role in developing the core software of the platform.

What's also interesting about the OnHub (coming to market on August 31 for US $199 (CAD $269), is that it has been designed to be shown off and not hidden like most routers tend to be. The OnHub has 13 antennas inside, 12 for casting signal and one for measuring congestion on your network. The device’s software is constantly monitoring channels and frequencies, making sure you’re connecting in the most efficient way.

Just like the popula Chromecast, the OnHub will be controlled via a companion app.
