Samsung releases firmware update for Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6

As expected of older devices, Samsung has officially dropped support for the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 series over two years ago. In a surprising move, the company releases a new firmware update for the two lineups. Samsung started the rollout for the devices in South Korea, with other regions getting the update as well. It isn't clear what the firmware update fixes, but it could be that there's a vulnerability affecting these 2015 flagship models.

Samsung Galaxy S6 devices and Note5 tipped to be getting Android Oreo update

Samsung customer care representatives have supposedly confirmed that the device will be getting the update and this month will be the time it rolls out. Confirming this news, the development pages for the Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 edge, S6 edge+, and Note5 on T-Mobile’s site say the carrier and Samsung “have agreed to support a new software update,” which is Android Oreo. Samsung hasn’t released an official announcement about this but we’ll watch for it.

Forget processor speeds, performance or screen resolution. The battleground for flagship smartphones today is camera and picture quality. We're taking an insane amount of pictures on our devices, everything from baby and pet shots, to selfies and food shots and our smartphones are the best devices for this sort of manic snap-happy photography fest.

Most smartphone users don't even take calls anymore, they may message or text and even play games and use apps and social media services, but you can be certain almost everyone takes pictures and video.
