Mophie brings wireless charging to the current Apple and Samsung flagships

It’s not the first time Mophie is bringing wireless charging to Apple and Samsung devices. But for those who are using the latest flagships from both brands, then you’re in luck. Mophie just unveiled new charge force cases for the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus as well as the Galaxy S8 and S8+. These leather-wrapped cases support everything from Mophie’s wireless charging system to Qi to other wireless charging systems. The iPhone 7 cases are available in black, tan, brown, blue, and (PRODUCT)RED and goes for US$59.95. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S8 case only comes in black and is available for US$49.95.

Aside from that, the brand even released a wireless power bank of sorts. The mini charge force powerstation is a 3,000mAh battery you can stick to the back of the charge force case via magnets. Mophie keeps it sleek and slim so it won’t add that much thickness to your phone. It retails for US$49.95.

Samsung brings Always On Display app to Play Store for Galaxy S8 owners

Samsung is making it easier to release updates for the Always On Display feature on the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus with its new app. As expected the app will not work on phones other than the aforementioned duo. The Always On Display is a nifty feature on Samsung’s new flagships that lets you check current time and date as well as see notifications and the like even when the main display is off.

Launching a separate app means it’ll be easy for Samsung to push out updates for the display without having to release a software update for the phones. As expected, if you don’t own the S8 and S8 Plus, you won’t be able to download the app. If you are, you can get it from this link.

ROLI NOISE comes to Android, with a few caveats

Musician Grimes has been quoted before saying “ROLI BLOCKS will democratize music production.” And now the app to control this modular music studio, which makes it easy for anyone to make music, is on Android. The ROLI NOISE app comes to Google’s mobile platform but with a limitation: a compatible device. ROLI is only letting devices with “Pro Audio” to run the app and this is defined as a “set of requirements that handle complex audio data in real time.” And at the moment, there are only three devices that meet these requirements: Google Pixel, Google Pixel L, and Samsung Galaxy S8. According to ROLI, they are testing more devices to add to the list.

ROLI NOISE is currently in beta so you can’t expect it to work similar to how the iOS app does. But if you have a compatible phone and just want to try it out, the app is free to download and still works without the extra BLOCKS.

Review: Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+

Text and photos by Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

The new Samsung Galaxy flagships, the S8 and the taller S8+ are the supermodels of the smartphone world. They’re fastidiously put together, unusually slender and stylish and look and feel exclusive. Built around the new almost bezel-less infinity display, with an organic wraparound design, the new Galaxies transcend old smartphone design norms and challenge our expectations of what a premium and forward thinking smartphone could be.
