Sony is rolling out Android Nougat to select Xperia devices

Sony rolled out Android Nougat last month to the Xperia Z5 but have met some issues. Now, it looks like the Japanese company is ready to give it another try. Android 7.0 is making its way to the Xperia Z3+, Z4 Tablet, and Z5 series. It would seem Sony has been able to fix the issues such as “inconsistencies related to audio playback via third-party apps and SD card encrypted data read performance.” The new firmware heading the way of these Sony devices has a build number of 32.3.A.0.376. Despite the issues with the roll out, it has to be noted that Sony is also one of the first manufacturers to offer Nougat update to its devices beyond the latest phone series.

Sony Canada stops Android Marshmallow update for Xperia Z5 due to Play Store bug

A bug affecting the Marshmallow update for the Xperia Z5 is bad enough that Sony Canada is pulling the update for its users. One of the big issues caused by the bug is the Google Play Store crashing, even after cleaning all app data or cache. Some users can’t even open the app at all. There’s no specific date yet when the fixed version will be up. At the moment, the fix is to do a clean install of the firmware again. What users of the Z5 and Z5P need to do is clear the data of the Play Store. Head over to Settings > Apps > Show system > Google Play Store > Storage > Clear Data. From there, proceed to Settings > Location > and then move the slider to the OFF position. After that reinstall Android.

Sony teased the device on social media before. But this leaked press render shows us a clearer shot of slightly rounded edges. It'll also reportedly sport a 23-megapixel camera. The other previously speculated features of the phone include it running on Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 and packing in 4GB of RAM, a 4K display, and fingerprint scanner. It will also supposedly be a "Made for Bond" device, meaning it'll be tied to the upcoming James Bond film.
