Google's Project Jacquard comes to life with Levi's Commuter Jacket

The first item out of Google's Project Jacquard, the initiative behind making connected wearables (and by wearables we mean clothes), is a Commuter Jacket from Levi's. It allows bikers to navigate their smartphones by simply using their sleeve as a touch sensor. The jacket has a smartphone app that'll help you communicate with your phone. It can control apps like Google Maps, Google Play, access messages and calls, among other things. You can place the sensor in any size jacket without it being uncomfortable. And you don't have to worry about its durability. You can put it in the wash like any other jacket. It'll be available in the spring of 2017 with a beta opening up in the fall of this year.

Tweetbot for Mac now comes with Topics

Tweetbot updates its Mac app to add its new Topic feature, which is designed to link related tweets together in a more cohesive and easier way. You can access the feature by tapping on the gear menu in the New Tweet screen. The good thing is your tweets are stored and need iCloud so you can jump from your Mac to your iPhone or iPad to continue tweeting.

Some of the other new features include Collections support, which lets you save tweets linked together in a topic; better quote preview in the compose window; remove play/pause button for video playback and instead have clicking on the video toggle play/pause; as well as a slew of bug fixes. The direct link to the Mac App store shows the other fixes for the app.

Rawr is one of those messaging apps for youngsters that I don’t get

In the world of unusual messaging apps, Rawr Messenger is one of the more unconventional ones. It combines messaging and what looks like the Xbox avatars. But the unusual bit is you can chat with friends and random people with your avatar and input things like #kick to kick your friend or the person your chatting with in the crotch. It’s not all that brutal, though, you can prompt it to do things like #hug and strangely enough you can #twerk, too. There are other things like being able to pull out props and even make out with them. Both you and the person you’re having the conversation with can see your avatars executing the actions.

The apps version of Chatroulette isn’t as scary or possibly open to abuse as picture sharing can only be done with your friends. It’s currently out on iOS but we can’t say yet if it’s coming out on Android.
