Apple introduces 'Charge Limits' in macOS Tahoe 26.4 to protect battery health

Source: MacRumors

Apple is porting its iPhone-style Charge Limits feature to the Mac to help improve the battery health of its laptops. MacRumors reported that macOS Tahoe 26.4 beta shows a new slider bar that lets you set the charging level for your laptop between 80% and 100%.

macOS is also getting the Optimized Battery Charging option that keeps a Mac laptop from charging to 100% until it is needed. The feature learns from your daily routine to determine the best time to complete the charge. The feature is accessible through the System Settings app. Head to the Battery option and click on the "i" button next to Charging.

Apple doesn't have a formal product event coming up, but it has new devices to announce next week. Apple Senior Vice President Greg Joswiak teased on X that "an exciting week" of Mac announcements is coming starting Monday, October 28. We can most likely expect the launch of Apple M4 Macs. The first M4 chip-powered device to come out this year was the iPad Pro launched in May. But we should now see it reach different Apple Mac devices like the MacBook Pro, iMac, and perhaps even the Mac Mini. We don't have to wait too long to learn what this "exciting week" entails.
