Twitter adds age verification to keep young ones away from alcohol

Twitter introduced a screening-age feature for alcohol brands using the social network. Mashable reports that if you plan to follow Heineken on Twitter, you will get a direct message linking you to the age verification page. You will be given 24 hours to state your age and if you meet the requirement, you can then follow the brand. Other partners Twitter has for this feature include Bud Light, Bacardi, Jim Beam, and Knob Creek. The feature works on the web as well as Android and iOS apps.

Pawn Stars troll Google's Chromebook in latest Microsoft 'Scroogled' ad

Here's a direct hit from the Pawn Stars who refuse to accept a Google Chromebook because, "when you're not connected, it's pretty much a brick." The Scroogled ad goes on to point out that traditional notebooks use applications like Office and iTunes which work even when you're offline. The kicker here is the line, "when you are online, Google tracks what you do so they can sell ads." Ow.

New Apple patent focuses on Lytro-like refocusable camera

The Lytro camera was an exciting and novel device that allowed photographers and people viewing images online to focus their digital images after they were taken. Expensive and hard to find, the Lytro camera really failed to turn a great idea into a profitable business. Apple has recently secured  a patent for a similar refocusable camera that might give future iPhones the ability to shoot images and refocus later on depending on what aspect they'd like to highlight. Nokia's Lumia 1020 already has a similar application called Refocus which works very much the same way (i.e. images posted online can be refocused by viewers). Since iPhones have consistently been among the most used cameras, this feature will expand their functionality. Hope they make it to market sooner rather than later.
