Google Now update includes Waze traffic updates, news card update, improved voice commands

Google has started to roll out new features for Google Now service. Engadget listed the availability of Waze traffic updates that emphasizes alerts relevant to your daily commute and an improved news update card that follows topics and people you’ve searched about or decided to follow. The “What to Watch” card includes more TV show and movie suggestions. You get notifications for store pickups; you can repeat reminders; and even get real-time rugby scores. Ars Technica also discovered that Google Now uses a more conversational approach to voice commands.

Flipboard launches Windows 8.1 app

Flipboard has officially unveiled the Windows 8.1 app and provides similar experience to iOS and Android versions with a few added features. The news reader includes Live Tile support; Windows 8 swipe up gesture to access an app bar; and Windows 8.1 snap mode to run Flipboard alongside other apps.

The new app will be available on Windows Store starting today and can be used on Windows RT tablets. Flipboard said a Windows Phone app version will arrive soon.

BlackBerry Messenger adds Wi-Fi device support for iOS

BlackBerry has update Messenger for iOS with Wi-Fi only device support, meaning you can use the app on the iPad and iPod touch gadgets. The company also included the ability to share BBM Pins and barcode on social networks as well as invite contacts to groups via email.

128GB iPad mini with Retina Display rounds out Apple's tablet offerings

The recently available iPad mini with Retina Display now comes in a 128GB variant for both Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi plus cellular versions. This means that all the iPad Air SKUs have a corresponding iPad mini with Retina version. Both the iPad Air and mini with Retina now come in 16GB, 32GB, 64GB and 128 GB variants.
