Video: Toshiba's new Excite Pure and Excite Write tablets

Toshiba still believes in the Android tablet space and is releasing two new models for the Back-to-School season. The reasonably priced Excite Pure ($319.99) and the super high-resolution Excite Write ($599.99). The Excite Write has a  2,560x1,600 resolution plus a Wacom digitizer and pen for input and drawing with 1024 pressure points as well as Harman Kardon stereo speakers. The Excite Write features the new Tegra 4 processor, 32GB of storage and an 8 megapixel camera.

Excite Pure features a NVIDIA Tegra 3 mobile processor stereo speakers, Toshiba Audio Source Filtering and DTS Premium Voice Pro, the Excite Pure tablet lets users record and enhance sounds or voices for a rich and clear audio experience, even in noisy environments.

Shazam introduces ‘Pulse’ music discovery feature

Included in the latest version of Shazam for iOS is what the company calls Shazam Pulse. This music discovery feature lets you learn about new tunes based on what’s trending on Shazam’s charts.

Other new features and upgrades included in version 6.1 are a new look for the tab bar, faster loading of Friends page, better chart updates, and the usual bug fixes.

Samsung and Jay-Z to give away his new album to one million Galaxy users for free

Partnering with Samsung, hip-hop mogul and superstar Jay-Z is doing the unprecedented by giving away his upcoming new album, Magna Carta Holy Grail, to a million users of either the Samsung Galaxy S III, S4, or Note II through a special app that is going to be available on June 24.

That app will feature a special sneak peek into the album’s making and then on the 4th of July at 12:01 am EDT (a good three days before the album officially drops), the first million people gain access to the album for free.

Skype video messaging no longer in ‘preview’

Skype just announced that its video messaging feature can now be used freely on its Android, iOS, BlackBerry, and desktop apps.

Video messaging lets you record up to three minutes of video that gets sent immediately to your selected Skype contact or they will receive it when they come back online. Think of it as video voicemail of sorts.
