Source: LG

If you need a sportier pair of earbuds and don't need the tech LG offers with the Tone Free T90, LG also has a new fitness-centric pair. The new Tone Free Fit (TF8) are workout-focused wireless earbuds. These come with soft, silicone fins to ensure they stay in your ear throughout your sessions. These are also IPX7 rated for water resistance and come with hybrid Active Noise Cancellation. The LG Tone Free Fit also has a longer battery life at up to 10 hours on a single charge. Right now, we also still don't know how much a pair of these will cost.

LG Tone Free T90 earbuds get head-tracking spatial audio

Source: LG

LG's flagship wireless earbuds get a refreshed model. The new LG Tone Free T90 supports Dolby's Head Tracking feature "across your favourite content and devices." This technology is designed to recalibrate the sound as you move your head so you'll always feel like you're at the centre of the scene. According to LG, the T90s are the first wireless earbuds to get an audio virtualizer Dolby designed specifically for earbuds. It's expected to offer better immersion than what's available now in devices like the Apple AirPods, Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro, and more.

Aside from this cool tech, the Tone Free T90 also gets the series' signature bacteria-killing UVnano charging case. Similar to the Tone Free FP9, its case also doubles as a Bluetooth transmitter. So, you can run an AUX cable to devices that might not have wireless connectivity support, and you can use the earbuds like normal. The LG Tone Free T90s promise up to nine hours of battery life (with adaptive ANC switched off) and another 18 hours from the charging case. LG hasn't shared pricing for the Tone Free T90 yet. (LG has also just launched a sporty pair of earbuds, the LG Tone Free Fit.)

Apple rumoured to be working on a smart display

What do you think an Apple smart display would look like?

A new smart home product might be added to Apple's stable this year. The company is reportedly working on smart displays. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple is exploring two implementations. One is like an iPad with a speaker, while the other brings together a mix of an Apple TV, camera, and HomePod into what's being dubbed a living room device. While it's supposedly exploring these options, only one of the two might get released by the end of next year or early 2024.

Amazon and Google are the companies that come to mind when we talk about smart displays. So, it would be interesting to see what Apple's take will be in the segment.

Google begins Meet and Duo merger

Source: Google

Google has officially begun merging its two video chat apps into one. So, if you're seeing two Google Meet apps, you're not hallucinating. The company announced this merger in June. It plans to keep the Meet brand name while bringing the best code bases into the Google Duo app. According to Wired, we'll start seeing Duo's app and website branding swap over to Google Meet this week. As with other typical rollouts, it might come your way later than others. But Google expects to complete the rebrand by September.

For now, you will be seeing two apps labelled "Google Meet (original): The updated Meet app" and "Google Meet: The updated Duo app." Google will eventually put out the original app to pasture, but it's sticking around for now until Google develops the meeting feature on top of Google Duo.
