Google TV's personalized profiles get delayed

We've been waiting for Google TV to roll out profiles for multiple users. It was expected to come out last month, but, unfortunately, it looks like the feature will be delayed. Google spokesperson Ivy Hunt informed The Verge that it will start rolling out "in the coming months." It isn't ideal, we admit, but it is out of our hands. Here is the heads up that you'll have to wait a bit more to separate your watchlists on the platform.

'Fortnite' Chapter 3 gets new island, characters, revamped gameplay

Epic Games has officially launched the new chapter of Fortnite. The company shared the first trailer for the game's Chapter 3 and its first season, "Flipped." The focus is on the new island with a complete landscape overhaul—including chaotic, unpredictable weather—and new gameplay mechanics. There are new sliding and swinging mechanics to help you move and dodge faster. You can set up camps to help your squad heal and store items that persist between matches. It's now possible to earn XP beyond battle royale. And you can hold on to a Victory Crown if you keep winning.

The new season also brings in new characters. Unsurprisingly, there's Spider-Man, who works the best with the new swinging mechanic. But there's also Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's Fortnite character The Foundation, and Gears of War's Marcus and Kait. If you were anticipating fresh content for Fortnite, then you finally have it.

Google Photos' Locked Folder feature spotted on more Android phones

Google Photos is starting to bring its Locked Folder feature to non-Pixel users. The company had announced back in September that it would roll out the feature that keeps sensitive pictures out of your main camera roll to other Android phones "soon." And it's being reported that some Samsung and OnePlus phones are getting it now. Older Pixel devices that didn't have access to it seem to be getting access to it now, too.

Locked Folders lets you choose specific photos or videos you want to put away in a passcode- or biometrics-locked folder, taking them out of your primary feed and off the cloud. In June, it first rolled out to Google Pixel phones (Pixel 3 and newer). The feature is expected to run on Android devices running Android 6 or later. The company also said it plans to bring it to iOS early next year.

Facebook tests bill splitting feature in Messenger

Facebook/Meta

Facebook wants to make it easier to split bills with others through Messenger. Meta announced that it is trying out Split Payments in the US. It is meant to be a "free and fast way to share the cost of bills and expenses." This coming week, users in the US can charge their friends through a group chat or the Payments Hub in Messenger.

Users will need to hit the "Get Started" button in group chats to initiate the process. They can then divide the sum of money evenly or in whatever amount they prefer. The user can also include themselves in the payment and add a customizable message. The money will be sent through Facebook Pay, and after they submit, their request will be sent to the group chat's room.
