Microsoft adds final 76 titles to its backward compatibility program

Microsoft

Microsoft is adding 76 more games to its Xbox backward compatibility program. This batch will be the last one, as Xbox Compatibility Program Lead Peggy Lo explained, it "reached the limit of our ability to bring new games to the catalog from the past due to licensing, legal and technical constraints." The update includes the entire Max Payne series and F.E.A.R. franchise, Star Wars: Jedi Knight II, and Skate 2.

All the titles added will support Auto HDR on the Xbox Series X and Series S consoles. The Xbox Series X and Xbox One X will render the games at four times their native resolution, while the Xbox Series S will do so at three times. And the Xbox One S and Xbox One will do that at double the resolution. Eleven titles will get FPS Boost, which improves framerates up to 60 frames per second, and 26 existing games in the library will also get the feature.

Boba Fett to come to 'Fortnite' on Dec. 24

Epic Games / Disney

While we're getting a Naruto collaboration real soon, another potentially iconic Fortnite crossover is coming on Christmas Eve. Star Wars' Boba Fett will be coming to the game on December 24, the weekend before The Book of Boba Fett debuts on Disney+ on December 29. Epic Games will be adding the bounty hunter to the game at 7 PM ET. And the teaser art for this crossover shows Fett's partner Fennec Shand, so we're assuming she'll make an appearance, too.

Epic hasn't shared what's coming then, but we can assume we're getting skins of both characters and more items. We'll make sure to update when we hear more.

'Battlefield 2042' will debut on Nov. 19 without voice chat feature

DICE, Electronic Arts

One key feature of Battlefield 2024 will be missing from the game when it launches in a few days on November 19. Developer DICE announced that the built-in voice chat won't be available until sometime after the launch, but it didn't elaborate on what caused the delay.

If you've been waiting for the game, then you might have to manage your expectations about what gameplay will be like when it releases. Polygon noted that you can use the ping system to chat with other players in the game that aren't in your network. But you'll need to dig through multiple menus to get to the right ping. And the experience might be "awkward and cumbersome."
