Google opens custom Tiles for Wear OS to third-party developers

Source: Google

After limiting Wear OS's Tiles to Google or other smartwatch manufacturers on the platform, Google is finally opening this feature to third-party developers. Tiles are widgets that give wearers of Wear OS-powered smartwatches at-a-glance information on things like calendar notifications, weather, and stats.

Google describes Tiles as providing "easy access to the information and actions users need in order to get things done. With a simple swipe from the watch face, a user can find out the latest forecast or start a timer."

This new addition may or may not revitalize interest in Wear OS. Only time will tell. Google plans to roll these custom Tiles to users later this spring when they "roll out the corresponding Wear OS platform update."

These Bethesda games will get an FPS boost on Xbox

Source: Bethesda

When Microsoft launched the Xbox Series X and S in February, it added an FPS boost feature to improve backwards-compatible Xbox One titles on the new consoles. However, when it was introduced, only five titles received that upgrade. Now, five other Bethesda games will be getting a frame rate boost on the Xbox Series X and S: Fallout 4Fallout 76PreyThe Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition, and Dishonored: Definitive Edition.

These games will see their frame rates double from 30 to 60 frames per second, with some playable even at 120fps. It isn't known though when these titles will be getting the upgrade, but Engadget speculates it could come with the next major update of the new consoles.

OnePlus's March 23 event won't just be for its new OnePlus 9 series. The company plans to introduce its first smartwatch. And the company wants its fans to get a bit imaginative when it comes to thinking about this wearable's specs. The link to OnePlus' announcement of its release is a forum thread inviting people to share wrong answers about the smartwatch's possible features. Those who share wildly off-base "drawings, renders, descriptions, videos" might stand a chance to take home a free watch.
