Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 dummy shows changes to its foldable design

A new video reveals the design of the Galaxy Z Flip5, Samsung's upcoming clamshell smartphone. Leakspinner posted the video showing the phone in black and white colours, but they look like temporary covers for the phone. The video also gives us a glimpse of how the phone looks when folded shut. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 is expected to have a new hinge mechanism that reduces the gap between the two halves of the screen when folded. However, the dummy in the video still shows a noticeable gap.

At least, the new hinge should improve the dust resistance of the phone, which is rumoured to have an IP58 rating. This means that some dust may enter the phone, but it won't affect its performance. Previous Z models only had water resistance (IPX8).

Apple rumoured to take a gradual in-store, rollout strategy for the Vision Pro

Photo: Apple

Apple's Vision Pro headset will reportedly launch in the US with in-store appointments and a head-scanning app. The mixed reality device will cost USD 3,500 and will be available in select Apple Stores in early 2024. Apple is also expected to expand its international availability later that year, starting with Canada and UK. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the company will adopt a gradual rollout strategy that resembles how it introduced the Apple Watch in 2015.

Customers who want to buy the Vision Pro will need to make an appointment at an Apple Store that has a designated area for demos and fittings. There, they will be able to try the device and get the right accessories, such as a light seal, a head strap, and optional prescription lenses. Apple will also ask them to provide their eyeglass prescriptions and use an iPhone app and a physical machine to scan their heads to ensure a snug fit and a clear view.

Samsung reportedly delays XR headset launch after seeing Apple Vision Pro

Samsung has postponed its new Extended Reality (XR) headset launch by 3-6 months due to the Apple Vision Pro, a rival product, SBS Biz reports. The Korean publication says Samsung wanted to start mass production of its XR headset in early 2024 but changed its mind after seeing the Apple Vision Pro’s specs. Samsung is supposedly reviewing its XR headset’s specs and design.

Apple, on the other hand, is also struggling with production problems for its Vision Pro. The company has reduced its sales target and will sell the device by appointment only.
