OnePlus 16 tipped to get highest smartphone refresh rate

Source: OnePlus

While we just got the OnePlus 15 in October 2025, rumours about its successor, the OnePlus 16, have already surfaced. One of the newer, prominent ones involves its display. The company is supposedly testing a screen with a refresh rate of at least 200Hz for its upcoming flagship. The specific refresh rate wasn't specified, but as GSMArena noted, 240Hz seemed like an obvious choice.

Of course, we ask the usual questions regarding game support and how it'll impact battery life. But since it is still a rumour about a device many months away from potentially launching, we take this OnePlus news with a grain of salt.

Sony is set to become the majority owner of the Peanuts brand. Sony Music Entertainment Japan, or SMEJ, and Sony Pictures Entertainment, or SPE, have signed an agreement to acquire WildBrain’s 41% stake in Peanuts Holdings.

As a result of this transaction, Sony’s total stake in the company will rise to 80% when combined with its existing 39% share, officially making Peanuts Holdings a consolidated subsidiary of the Sony Group. The family of creator Charles M. Schulz will retain their 20% interest in the brand, while SMEJ takes the operational lead in partnership with SPE. The deal, which builds on Sony’s initial 2018 investment, is currently awaiting regulatory approval.

Source: FIFA, Netflix

FIFA is making its long-awaited return to the digital football arena through an exclusive partnership with Netflix Games. Ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026, the streaming giant will launch a "newly reimagined" football simulation game developed by Delphi Interactive. This move marks FIFA's first major foray back into simulation gaming following its high-profile split from Electronic Arts in 2022.

The upcoming title is designed for accessibility, prioritizing "joyful" and "approachable" gameplay that allows anyone to jump in regardless of skill level. Built specifically for the Netflix ecosystem, the game will be available at no extra cost to members. In a departure from traditional console requirements, fans will be able to play solo or online with friends on select TVs using their smartphones as controllers, or directly on mobile devices via the Netflix app.
